Road Trip 2016 - Day 24 (31st July) - We find "The Dish" in Parkes!!!

We leave Forbes this morning heading for Dubbo for a couple of nights.

The countryside this morning along our journey is so beautiful and green

After a stop in Parkes for coffee we are out on the road again looking for "The Dish" - the huge radio telescope just North of the township of Parkes.
If you look carefully you will see it off in the distance in this photo ---

Yes - this the the very same one that featured in the movie "The Dish"

We were lucky enough to see it being repositioned today. As you see it is now at a angle - and was previously upright when we first arrived.

We enjoyed watching 3x short movies in the visitors centre cinema - very interesting and informative 3D footage.

Then we were back on the road to continue our journey to Dubbo.

With no free camps close around Dubbo - we pick the Big 4 Caravan Park - the first caravan park we came to as we drove into Dubbo - and the closest to the zoo.
It was a great surprise, and shock, to find the temporary managers at this park are two old friends of mine from Bathurst - people I have not seen since leaving Bathurst over 20years ago.
It was lovely to spend some time, when they were not too busy in the office, chatting to them and we thank you Kay and Peter Judge for also looking after us with a discounted price for our 2x nights stay here.
