On our way out from the campsite I just had to get a photo of our rig dwarfed by this massive River Red Gum down at the riverside park.
We get moving and into Hay for a shower at the information centre by 8.30am - just as they are opening.
For $2.00 each we are able to use the facilities they provide and have ourselves a lovely hot shower.
Armed with coffee - we spend a bit of time here in Hay this morning checking out a few more points of interest around town.
The Anglican Bishop's Lodge ---
And - the old Hay Goal
Our journey from Hay to Forbes today is again through very flat plains that run as far as the eyes can see
And we see this rather strange looking silo along the way
Coming closer into Forbes we start to see a incredible amount of water lying around the countryside we are passing through - from all the recent rains in the area. It is so widespread that it looks as though we are passing by a lake at times.
We pull into Forbes mid afternoon and go looking for a free camp (highly rated in Wiki Camps) on the Lachlan River at a riverside park right in the town.
We locate this camp - and join about 6 other campers spread along this site.
After setting up camp - an afternoon walk is on the agenda - heading off along the riverside pathway and then across the bridge into town to take a look around.
As with so many of these towns there are many beautiful grand old buildings here in Forbes.
It's a quiet peaceful campsite as darkness descends over the river this evening
