Day 29: Jericho to Longreach (Stockman's Hall of Fame)

I have to say that I have long past the point in the trip where I have any idea what the date it is or even what day it is anymore!!!!
Have to be happy with that!!

This morning was not too cold - as we thankfully now seemed to move to a period of warmer weather again.

Got moving and headed off back towards Longreach. This would be our second visit on this trip and this time we planned to visit the "Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame" with Cindy and Russell.

We planned to go the an Artesian Spa at Ilfracombe, on the way to Longreach, but when we got there we found that the spa inconveniently for us did not open until 3pm.
So we decided to press on to Longreach for lunch.

We were both amazed and shocked at the amount of roadkill on the Ilfracombe to Longreach leg of our travels today.

We had a quick lunch in the car park of the "Stockman's Hall of Fame" and headed in for a visit to this iconic museum which pays tribute to Australia's stockmen and women, pioneering legends, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The imposing statue of "The Ringer" stands outside the entrance of the main building.

We all found the museum a very informative and enjoyable experience.

I think I would have liked to have had more time to absorb more of the huge amount of information they were displaying here. But - it gives me something to enjoy next time around.

The poem (pictured below here) is displayed out he front of the Hall of Fame:

By around 3.00 pm we were on our way out to the Apex Park free camp. We just had to stay here again - just to show Cindy and Russ this place.
This may not be the nicest free camp we have stayed at (not by any stretch) but you just have to see it once I think. It was actually even more full of campers than on previous visit.

On the plus side there was a guy busking tonight - singing in the grassed picnic /park area - who was was actually pretty good. We found out later that he had apparently played with Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs in his earlier years.
Although we did not venture down to hear his show we did enjoy his music in the background whilst we were organising and eating our dinner.
Cindy and I walked up and made a gold coin donation to his busking tin in appreciation.
