Only about 100km from McKinlay into Cloncurry this morning where we fuelled up again - had a walk around town and grabbed a coffee to go.
We were off again and making for a free camp near The Barkley Homestead in NT today.
Next stop was "The Isa" (just drove through as this is somewhere we stopped over in 2013.
Just out of Camooweal we stopped for lunch at a free camp spot out on the Gerogina River. Great spot - lots of vans here - but heaps of room along the river. We will definitely stop here on the way back home if we do come back this way.
Over the border we went - into the Northern Territory - we made it!!!!
We are now travelling on the Barkley Tableland and it is very very flat as far as the eye can see.
Today on the road we came up behind another tvan travelling to NT and then the Kimberley's. We chatted on the CB with them for a bit - they are from Tassie and on 4 mths trip up here in the mainland.
The wildlife count today has been much better - with a dingo, half dozen brolgas, couple of bustards and finally a couple of Wedge Tailed Eagles.
The very noticeable thing here in NT - is that there is no roadkill. We think it is because they clear the grass away from the verge - back more than 6 metres so you can see very well on both sides of the road if there was anything moving there.
Also the clothed termite mounds all along the way we're interesting! Unfortunately we have not yet been able to stop and get a photo of one - but it seems to be a popular thing to do - so I am sure we will get our opportunity somewhere in our travels.
We rolled into our free camp for tonight - Wonora Bore - at about 4pm. It was a great spot off the road enough not to hear the trucks and with plenty of room for many overnighters - tonight we shared it with 10 other caravans / campers / rv's.
