Day 40: Cooper Creek - Windorah

Decided to stay on another day here as it is such a lovely campsite on the creek. Some of the other few campers here were also electing to stay their second night for the same reason.
The camping areas are quite spread out in small pockets either side of the creek and the main section up along the road even has flushing toilets that are well stocked and clean. They also provide heaps of rubbish bins - and because of this the camping sites are all very clean.

We decided to have a relaxing day deciding where to head off next in our travels as we still have another 20 days of our holidays before we need to head home.
My god that is a sobering thought!!!! as we are pretty settled into this travelling lifestyle - and the thought of going back to work and normal routine of life is far from our minds at the moment.

We did also decide today was a good opportunity to do some washing and have a clean up as all the dust we have been collecting over the last 6 weeks was really starting to build up in the canopy and and pretty much throughout the ute interior. So we set about emptying out the back of the ute and removing - what seemed like 'a ton of dirt' and wiping it all down before replacing it in again.
Around lunch time a van pulled in and we realised that these were a couple that we had previously met at Adels Grove at Lawn Hill. We knew that they were going to Birdsville for the concert but we had not seen them there. We had a nice chat with them about the concert and then they were moving on further for the evening elsewhere.
There were actually quite a few distractions this morning - having chats with other campers.

Once these chores were done we set about exploring the river bank areas around the campsite and foraging for enough wood so that we could have a campoven dinner tonight and then just relaxed whilst we built up the fire to create the hot coals we needed to cook our dinner.
This will be our 6th night out of 7 that we have been either in a free camp or in the National Park - which is as good as free as the cost is minimal at $5.45 per person per night. Our only caravan park in the last 7 nights was in Bedourie where paid $15.00 and had power to charge everything up on 240volt (we also had the free artesian spa in Bedourie)

We did notice that Claudia, who we had first come across in the Diamintina NP and again in Birdsville, had also arrived at the this camp spot and setup camp upstream of the bridge on the other side of the river.
Hey Cindy - I think she is stalking us!!!! Ha Ha!!

Our dinner was scrumptious and we feel we had learnt a lot from Cindy and Russ about the techniques of cooking with the camp oven. Thanx guys!!

We had a bush shower/ bowl wash tonight in the darkness beside the camper.!!! Aaahhh it's great to feel so free in the outdoors and be able to have complete darkness to shield you from the world.

What a lovely evening we had by the fire as it was a lovely gloriously clear sky tonight and so full of stars.
We were treated to 2x shooting stars again tonight!!

We slept again tonight with just the hatch open - just fantastic!!!
